GEORGE TOWN: Pentamaster Corp Bhd’s order book for the 2022 financial year and first quarter of 2023 is already filled up.
Group executive chairman C B Chuah told StarBiz that the group had secured about RM500mil worth of products to be delivered in the second half till the first quarter of 2023.
“The orders comprise about 300 semiconductor test equipment and 20 robotic production lines.
“The test equipment is priced between RM1mil and RM3mil and the robotic lines between RM5mil and RM10mil.
“The customers are from Europe, the United States and Japan,” he added.
Chuah said orders were coming for the second and third quarters of 2023.
“The time to produce and deliver a test equipment or robotic assembly line is between six and nine months due to the shortage of raw materials,” he said.
According to Research Reports World, the semiconductor test equipment market, valued at US$3.83bil (RM17bil) in 2020, is projected to reach US$4.7bil (RM21bil) by 2027, increasing at a 3.1% compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) during the 2021-2027 period.,
Pentamaster is setting up a sales, service and design office in Germany to tap the rising global demand for test equipment and robotic assembly lines.
“We had previously set up similar offices in Japan and the United States.
“We will establish offices in the Middle East and Indonesia next year,” he added.
The group’s growth this year will be driven by the automotive and medical sectors, which is expected to contribute 40% and 10% to its 2022 top and bottom line, respectively, according to Chuah.
The smartphone segment will likely generate 20% of this year’s turnover and profits.
Chuah added that for the automotive sector, the group will continue to leverage its expertise and knowhow in riding the high market demand for integrated power modules, such as insulated gate bipolar transistors and power devices in the assembly and test solutions covering both the front and back-ends.
“Our proprietary silicon carbide wafer burn-in system enables us to have almost a complete production line for power devices from wafer burn-in to assembly and test for the automotive sector.
“For the medical sector, we want to expand our medical automation solutions for the single-use medical devices industry, such as intravenous catheters, dual safety pen needles and sutures.
“We intend to expand our geographical coverage for growth in this sector, with the immediate plan to intensify our marketing efforts to promote our solutions to key markets such as the United States, India and the Middle East, besides China.
